Beautiful Diversity – They Claim They Were Sisters, However Their Birth Certificate Reveals A Much Bigger Surprise!

Looks can be very deceiving.

Do not let appearances fool you! Sometimes looks can truly be deceiving. Take the case of Maria and Lucy, for example.

At first glance, the two young women have absolutely nothing in common. The other one has deep brown skin, curly hair, and huge brown eyes, while the other one has a very fair skin, stunning red hair, and bright blue eyes!

However, take a moment more closely, and you will notice a very small clues to this very astonishing occurrence.

Their body features and heights are very much identical, the same can be said for their facial features, and a handful of other physical traits that is not all these girls share. As a matter of fact, Maria and Lucy Aylmer have spent 9 months in very close quarters. However, they are not in a dorm room or adoption center, but we are referring to the time they actually spent growing within their mother’s womb.

Although it may be hard to believe, Maria and Lucy Aylmer are in fact TWINS!

Lucy and Maria are products of a racially mixed family; the girls’ mother, Donna, is half Jamaican, and Vince, their father, is Caucasian.

The twins’ siblings exhibit a medium complexion, a more typical gene distribution in racially diverse families. So meeting the twins for the first time was a shocking experience for everyone involved!

One of the twins shared:

“It was such a shock …because things like skin color don’t show up on scans before birth. [Our Mom] had no idea that we were so different. When the midwife handed us both to her, she was just speechless.”

And while the twins, now 20, say they share a similar clothing style, there was never any switching places in school.

Lucy shared:

“No one ever believes we are twins. Friends have even made us produce our birth certificates to prove it.”

Lucy believes she and Maria couldn’t look more different if they tried.

The amazing polar images are reflective of some personality differences as well. Leading unique lives at separate colleges, Maria is an outgoing law student while shy Lucy studies art and design.

Despite their many differences, there’s one more thing Lucy and Maria share, something that bonds them deeply — their love for each other, their family, and pride in their beautiful diversity.
